Meet Anthony J. Koch
Psychiatric Specialist. Your Mental Health, Our Mission: Partnering Together for Lasting Wellness
Hello! I'm a passionate and experienced Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) running my own private practice, Feel Better & Co., since January 2024. My journey in healthcare has taken me across various roles and locations, allowing me to gain diverse experience in both mental and physical health care.
I started as a Registered Nurse, working in renowned institutions like the Cleveland Clinic-Akron General, and took on travel assignments in California, Virginia, Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, and even Hawaii. I’ve worked in Med/Surg Telemetry, stepdown units, ICU, and on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of patient care and the varied needs across different healthcare environments.
I advanced my career with a Master's focused on psychiatric and mental health and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. As an NP, I’ve worked across Washington, California, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Ohio, serving patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings, from community health centers to psychiatric units and urgent care. Currently, I provide telehealth services in California and Washington, making mental health support more accessible. I also have the pleasure of working alongside the wonderful therapy group, Empower, in Poland, Ohio, where we collaborate to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.
My approach is always centered on you, the patient. I believe in taking the time to understand your unique story and creating a care plan that truly fits your needs. I'm here to help you on your journey to better mental health and well-being. Let’s take that first step together!

My philosophy
My treatment methodology is centered around a collaborative and patient-focused approach. While many providers may simply prescribe medications, I believe in taking the time to educate my patients about their options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their mental health. Listening to each individual’s story is key to understanding their unique needs, and I prioritize holistic solutions that consider the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
I approach every case with a strong commitment to ethical and moral standards, ensuring that my patients receive care that is not only effective but also compassionate and respectful. My goal is to work together as a team, incorporating a range of strategies and treatments to help each patient achieve their best possible mental health.

San Luis Obispo Community Center
Urgent Care PMHNP - Contract
Apr 2024 - Jul 2024
During my time working remotely as an urgent care PMHNP for SLO, covering for someone on maternity leave, I embraced the flexibility the role offered. This allowed me to maintain my professional responsibilities while also pursuing personal adventures. I ran a half marathon in San Diego, visited Chicago twice, took a scenic train ride to Montana to explore Glacier National Park, and enjoyed quality time with my family in Florida. This period not only enhanced my work-life balance but also fueled my passion for providing accessible mental health care no matter where life takes me. This posotion required me to think on-the-fly and address immediate needs. View all
Teletherapeutics
Telehealth PMHNP - Part-time
Jul 2024 - Present
In my part-time role at Teletherapeutics, I also see patients in California and Washington, which allows me to work flexible hours outside of my primary practice, Feel Better & Co. This schedule enables me to provide continuous care to a broader patient base while still focusing on growing my private practice. Balancing these commitments has allowed me to extend my reach and impact in the mental health field.View all
