Provide psychiatric/mental health services over the lifespan as well as treat dual diagnosis patients that need assistance/management of both their symptoms of mental health and drug addiction. PMHNP-BC, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Primary Manager/Provider of psychiatric services at five separate outpatient facilities as well as for a fourth women’s residential treatment facility for those with drug addiction and for those who have a dual - diagnosis (Drug use Disorder and a Mental health Disorder), and as well for the Bilingual Program in Spanish. Responsibilities included conducting initial comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning and collaboration, medication management, the prescribing of psychotropic medications and controls, providing health education re: CBT, motivational interviewing, and working with patients in that regard, ordering and evaluating lab results, making appropriate referrals, documentation and accurate coding within an electronic health record. Treated child and adolescent (personal certified sub-specialty), as well as the adult population focusing upon all mental health disorders, as well as all Dual Diagnosis patients.

Worked as a psychiatric Nurse 2 for the Office of Mental Health, State of New York. Work with the child and adolescent population involving numerous diagnoses characteristic of that population. Responsible for running a secure unit including medication administration, admissions, discharges, crisis management, behavioral management and staff supervision. Participate and provide input for therapeutic and diagnostic meetings. Also regularly float to secure unit assisting children whose primary diagnosis is either Autism or ADHD. Collaborate daily with Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Pediatricians and Social Workers. BLS current. Maintain current certification in PMCS (de-escalation and crisis management techniques) by the State of New York, Office of Mental Health.
