Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

I conducted initial psychiatric evaluations and managed psychiatric medications for clients across three facilities. I prescribed and administered various treatments, including Methadone, Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol. I also engaged in telehealth sessions to improve access to care and provided compassionate support to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.

PMHNP-BC

I administered medications and provided medication education to both pediatric and adult patients. As a Charge Nurse, I led an interdisciplinary team during evening and night shifts, supervised new staff, and facilitated communication between administration and support staff. I also acted as a team leader during medical and psychiatric emergencies, conducted debriefings, and assessed patients through daily 1:1 interviews. My role included utilizing coping techniques and other holsitic approaches to avoid the use of restraints/seclusion. 


Registered Nurse

I safely administered medications to a diverse patient demographic and performed comprehensive head-to-toe assessments on newly admitted patients. As a Charge Nurse, I led an interdisciplinary team, admitted new patients, and developed individualized care plans. I fostered therapeutic relationships, monitored patient progress from admission to discharge, and provided education and health promotion to patients and their families. Additionally, I assisted patients in identifying triggers and using coping skills during daily 1:1 assessments.

I conducted weekly assessments and provided counseling to clients through both telehealth and in-person visits. I performed psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments under supervision, discussed medication regimens with clients, and monitored for adverse effects. I communicated with clients' family members and interdisciplinary treatment teams to gather information and support discharge planning. Additionally, I assisted clients with applications for housing, day programs, and vocational support, and participated in daily team meetings to advocate for their needs.

Nurse Practitioner Student

I conducted initial psychiatric evaluations for new adult and pediatric clients under the supervision of a preceptor. I reviewed and discussed medication regimens with clients, provided psychoeducation, and collaborated with therapists and counselors to address clients' holistic needs. I delivered culturally competent care, used language interpreters when necessary, and educated clients on coping techniques and nonpharmaceutical interventions.

An initial visit with a provider involves a medical history review, an assessment of your specific symptoms and concerns, and possible diagnostic tests to evaluate a patient's health, identify issues, and develop and discuss treatment options.

A follow-up visit with a provider involves checking the progress of the patient's treatment plan, assessing any new symptoms or concerns, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes.

Follow-up Visit

A prescription service appointment with a provider typically involves a brief review of his/her existing patient's medical history, confirming the need for the prescription service, and issuing a new prescription. It may also involve evaluating any side effects or concerns related to the medication and ensuring that the treatment plan is still appropriate for the patient's needs.

Prescription service

An opportunity for potential patients to discuss their concerns or needs with a provider, or therapist, to determine if their services are a good fit and to receive initial advice or guidance.
