Greetings, my name is Courtney Simmons-Matthews. I am a Dual-Certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 26 years of experience. My passion is providing holistic, patient-centered care by integrating primary care, mental health, and addiction services. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe that mental health and addiction are best managed through a combination of psychotherapy, medication, and a strong therapeutic relationship. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance use disorders, I will walk with you through each challenge. Together, we will identify the root causes of your symptoms and work toward meaningful solutions. Comprehensive Medical-Psychiatric Evaluation
An initial visit with a provider involves a medical history review, an assessment of your specific symptoms and concerns, and possible diagnostic tests to evaluate a patient's health, identify issues, and develop and discuss treatment options. Following the assessment, the patient will receive a treatment plan outlining the patient's diagnoses, treatment goals, therapies, and interventions.

The free consultation allows an opportunity for the client and their family to discuss concerns involving medical, mental health, or social environmental concerns with a provider to determine if their services are a good fit. The provider will answer your questions and offer further advice and guidance. Following the consultation, the client has the choice to establish care with the provider by completing the electronic intake documents, and scheduling the next available appointment,

Psychotherapy
Therapy is designed to be a non-judgmental, safe, and confidential space where you can express yourself freely. During the initial, both parties will establish a patient-provider relationship, discuss the reasons therapy is being sought, assess your personal history, previous treatments, and identify your personal goals. You will receive a detailed treatment plan outlining your concerns, measurable goals, and interventions. You will develop skills to manage your mental health more effectively.

Medication Assisted Treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder (Induction of Treatment)
AUD treatment involves a comprehensive approach to treatment, relapse prevention, and long-term sobriety. During the initial visit, the provider will assess your drinking habits, severity, feelings, and behavioral patterns. Labs, a physical exam and psychological eval will be conducted to identify any co-occurring conditions. Treatment options include medical detox, abstinence, withdraw, counseling, behavioral modifications, medications, rehab, and support groups.

Medication Management
Medication management involves a brief check of the patient's medical history, an evaluation of the treatment plan, and an assessment for symptoms, medication side effects, and patient concerns. Psychiatric medications take 4 to 8 weeks to reach therapeutic levels, therefore dose adjustments are managed with respect to safety and symptom relief. Medication refills are included in this service. Prescriptions will be electronically sent to preferred pharmacy or mail order carrier.

Congratulations, today is your first day on the road to recovery! During your in-office visit, a provider will review your medical-psychiatric history, your personal goals for treatment, and ensure that you meet the criteria for safe induction following a scheduled withdrawal period from all opioid substances. Following induction, you will be monitored for safety, compliance, and relief of negative symptoms. Family support and psychotherapy are highly encouraged for better outcomes.
