Meet Jennifer Okwerekwu

Reproductive Psychiatry & Integrative Women's Mental Health Practitioner

Dr. Jennifer Okwerekwu has 8 years of experience as an adult psychiatrist. She is Board-Certified and specializes in the field of Reproductive Psychiatry and Integrative Women's Mental Health. Dr. Okwerekwu is a Harvard-trained physician with a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine she earned from Columbia University. She is a sought-after expert and has given lectures for national organizations like The American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. O wants you to feel in control of your own wellness, helping you go from just “managing” or “surviving” day-to-day to actually thriving. As your doctor, she is committed to equipping you with the information you need to make clear, informed choices about your health. She provides medication management and psychotherapy through a female-first frame: putting you, your needs, and your wellness at the forefront of our work together.

She believes women deserve a special level of support and care during life transitions from the onset of menses through menopause. She views the work with her patients as a partnership and will take the time to help you feel seen, supported, and listened to at every stage. Furthermore, she maintains a strong passion for social justice and the exploration of racial and maternal healthcare issues. A significant portion of her practice is directed towards aiding women of color in navigating the distinct challenges they encounter in their pursuit of high-quality, culturally sensitive medical attention.

As a reproductive psychiatrist, Dr. O has deep expertise and training in helping you navigate hormonally-driven transitions with the level of evidence-based care you need. Her knowledge of integrative and holistic care means customized treatment plans to help you feel well.

Dr. O has had her work featured in numerous platforms and publications, ranging from CNN to the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Initial Assessment & Consultation
Full diagnostic evaluation. We review your entire medical and psychiatric history, take note of all your medications and explore the symptoms that trouble you. This helps us hone in on a diagnosis, and conceptualize what’s wrong and why. This initial appointment forms the foundation of our treatment. Taking stock of your personal priorities we weigh the risks and benefits of treatment—which can be a combination of medications, or integrative strategies—and build a plan to get you feeling better.
